We proudly look back on 6 generations of baking experience. Having emerged from a small bakery in the Münsterland region in Northern Germany, the company has continuously maintained the values of traditional baking. Craftsmanship for 6 generations
Prünte – For six generations this name stands for an unparalleled quality of whole grain rye bread based on a long bakery tradition. It started with a small craftsman bakery in the Münsterland region, founded by Georg Prünte in 1778. In the 1930s, Wilhelm Prünte started to run a bakery in Gelsenkirchen. By that time, the mining industry was flourishing in the Rhine-Ruhr region, with hungry miners asking for tasty bread – a promising market for a baker. The main focus of our medium-sized company still lies on the home region of Rhineland and Westphalia, where we serve local grocery stores as well as bakeries with an own fresh service. But not only our regional consumers appreciate the special taste of Prüntebread, but the exceptional taste and nutritional value of our Westphalian specialities is increasingly discovered outside of Germany.

Freshness and shelf-life – a special challenge
We do not stock our bread. Our bread is baked freshly for each customer upon placement of a purchase order. From our point of view, this is the only way to guarantee the consumer a best possible freshness. As a basic principle, we do not use any preservatives. Through means of the mild process of pasteurisation we are able to realise shelf-lives of several months. Our know-how allows us to obtain an extra long-lasting fresh keeping, so that the exceptional taste of the bread is being preserved for a particularly long time.
